ayaymama - trip peru

The story tells of an epidemic that was wiping out the people of the native community. That the mother of two children, feeling the first symptoms of the disease, wished to save her little ones from the ilnees and so she took them to the mountain, very far and left them there, a spot close to a pretty place, where fish and fruit trees were abundant. She left them with great sorrow, knowing she will never see them again. They played and ate fruits and took a dip on the nearby water, but as the night came they missed their mother and left to look for her, eventually getting lost in the mountain.

Scared and crying of sadness they lamented they weren’t birds so that they could fly to their mom. The mountain felt bad for them and turned them into little birds and so they flew, but when they got to their town, they found that everyone had already dies. Ever since them they won’t stop flying and when they are at the top of a tree, tired of looking for their mom, they let out a sorrowful song ayaymama… ayaymama…
