We’ll start with our northern neighbor: Ecuador. Even though it’s a small country it still has an incredible diversity of fauna and flora as well as different ecosystems that can cater to everyone’s needs. Ecuador has three major geographical areas: coast, highlands and jungle, plus the Galapagos Islands. This means that you can enjoy the beach, then head to the high sierras, find incredible Andean landscapes and then venture into the jungle, all in a couple of days.

The main entry points to Ecuador are Guayaquil (near the coast) and Quito (near the highlands) and they both receive international flights from all over the world and since the US dollar is their official currency you won’t have to deal with figuring out local currency.

Ecuador is mostly known for the Galapagos Islands, a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean and that were named by UNESCO as World Heritage in 1979. The Galapagos Islands National Park has 13 big islands, 6 medium ones and over 200 islets where visitors can observe animals in their natural habitats and also do other activities such as snorkeling, surfing and diving.

Another city that attracts many visitors is Quito, capital of the country and where you will be able to find the well-known Middle of the World monument. Quito  is a very rich city where you will be able to see and breathe culture at every turn, and it’s also the starting point to visit other amazing sites such as Otavalo market or the Cotopaxi National Park.
