On June 24th of every year the city of Cusco celebrates the ceremony of the Inti Raymi or the Festivity of the Sun, one of the most important on the Andean town that has been celebrated from around 600 years to thank the Sun God for a good year of harvest. The celebration is held on the terrace of Sacsayhuaman, and lately it has been added as a stage the patio of the Koricancha temple and the Main Square of Cusco or Haukaypata. The Inca has the main role, who arrives with its royal cortege. In the reenactment over 90 soldiers, 25 women couples that represent the akllas and dozens of actors that represent the visiting delegations participate. In total there’s a scenic display of nearly 500 actors, due to the magnificence of the celebration and its cultural wealth, the Inti Raymi has become an important tourist attraction that every year motivates the visit of thousands of tourist from outside of Cusco to witness this event.
